Lifeguard Certification Course

Earn your American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification and gain the skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course blends online learning with hands-on training, covering water rescues, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and first aid. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a nationally recognized certification valid for two years.

Course Details

  • Length: 3 days (22 hours)
  • Format: Blending learning (online modules & in-person training)

  • Prerequisites

  • Must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
  • Swim 150 yards using front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs.
  • Swim 50 additional yards using front crawl or breaststroke.
  • Complete a timed event (1 minute, 40 seconds maximum):
    • Swim 20 yards without goggles.
    • Retrieve a 10-pound brick from 10 feet deep.
    • Swim 20 yards on your back while holding the brick.
    • Exit the pool without a ladder or steps.

  • Certification Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all sessions.
  • Complete all online learning modules before the start of in-person training.
  • Demonstrate competency in all skills and assessments.
  • Pass a final written exam (50 questions, 80% or higher).

  • Lifeguard Recertification

    Keep your lifeguarding skills sharp and extend your certification for two more years with our streamlined recertification course. This class refreshes your knowledge of water rescues, CPR/AED, and first aid, ensuring you stay prepared for emergencies.

  • Eligibility

    Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or one expired by no more than 30 days.

    Recertification Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all sessions.
  • Complete all online learning modules before the start of in-person training.
  • Demonstrate competency in all skills and assessments.
  • Successfully complete final rescue scenarios.
  • Pass a final written exam (50 questions, 80% or higher).
